Australian Headquarters for the National Broadband Network
FutureSpace completed a number of key workplaces for NBN, including 7,000m2 in Sydney with 3,000m2 in Melbourne. The company was a start-up business so FutureSpace helped develop the accommodation brief via a rigorous interviewing and discovery process. In addition, FutureSpace provided advice on how to address ‘unknowns’ such as work practices and management styles when the initial workforce was predominantly new to the business, and developed a set of accommodation and design benchmarks that have since become part of the company’s workplace standards.
In Sydney the workplace spans four main levels and is linked via an interconnecting stair that is a substantial connecting device through the floors. In Melbourne facilities have been provided to accommodate a fast growing workforce. Overall the design concept is derived from ‘bytes’ of information and notions of speed, agility, movement and connectivity. The facilities provided include a network of meeting rooms, managerial offices, video-conferencing and training rooms as well as breakout spaces, kitchen facilities with audio visual communication throughout.
